About SHB Gems
SHB Gems was founded in memory of those we have loved and lost, and in support of those still fighting.
We are an international team within Second Life dedicated to supporting Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society. Through events, themed builds, performances, and community gatherings, we raise funds and awareness while honouring those who inspire us.
We relay for survivors. We relay for caregivers. We relay in memory. And we relay because we believe together we can help end “normal.”
Relay for Life
Relay for Life began in 1985 when Dr. Gordon “Gordy” Klatt walked and ran for 24 hours to raise money for the American Cancer Society. What started as one determined effort has grown into a global movement.
Relay for Life came to Second Life in 2006 and has since raised over $4 million USD for the American Cancer Society.
Cancer won’t quit. So neither will we.
Why We Relay
Because cancer has touched every one of us.
